US Grade Kindergarten - 2
This is an ongoing class, so feel free to join in on the week's it fits your schedule. You can join and leave weekly. In this interactive class, the learner will join in once a week to explore a new dinosaur topic. Each class, we will kick off with a little social time (about 5 mins). Each learner is welcome to bring something to class related to dinosaurs to share: a fact or interest, a fossil or picture, a toy, a book. This helps us to get to know each other and share our unique dinosaur interests. Participation is encouraged, but optional. Lessons are structured with games, songs, or discussions for brain breaks. Questions and participation are welcomed. We will begin our journey with an exploration of paleontology: fossils and bones. Then your learner will embark on a fun-filled weekly adventure learning about different dinosaur species. Our tour guides will be my special Paleontology friends, "Pete and Peggy". When did the dinosaur roam the earth? What did it eat? Where did it live? What unique characteristics did the dinosaur have, and how did those characteristics aid in its survival? This class will be taught from an interactive slide show, which will be very engaging to hold even the wiggliest of learners attention. We will have a printable with each class, focusing on an activity that pertains to the class topic. My class is discussion based, so I encourage great conversation. Week 1: Paleontology Camp: What it takes to be a Dinosaur Detective Week 2: All about Carnivores and Invent a Carnivorous Dino Week 3: All about Herbivores and Omnivores and Invent a Herbivore Dinosaur Week 4: Tyrannosaurus Rex: "The King" Week 5: Velociraptor and Deinonychus Week 6: Ceratopsians Week 7: Sauropods Week 8: Flying Reptiles - Pterosaurs Week 9: Spinosaurus Week 10: Stegosaurus Week 11: Armored Dinosaurs: Ankylosaurs Week 12 Allosaurus Week 13: Iquanadon and Parasaurolophus Week 14: Mosasaurus Week 15: Giganotosaurus Week 16: Baryonyx and Suchomimus Week 17: Troodon Week: 18: Utahraptor Age: The age range is 5-8. This class will most likely be too advanced for learners under 5 years old. It is highly discussion based, and full of dinosaur facts, while you don't need any prior knowledge, an interest in dinosaurs is needed. If you’re 5-8, hop on in! Siblings: Siblings and/or co-learners must be enrolled in class to participate. Thank you for helping me keep my class sizes small for paid learners. Mute: There are times I may have to utilize the mute function, as a lot of background noise makes it hard for me and other learners to hear. If so, no worries. They can remove it to speak. Raising Hands: My one special rule is to raise your hand to speak. I have a couple ways that I make this really fun, and they all seem to do it quite well. No worries if they are still working on this. School is for teaching, and I will teach it to them in a fun way. Refunds: I follow Outschool's Limited Refund Policy. This can be viewed on their website.
Learning Goals
The student will learn unique characteristics about different dinosaur species, and be able to discuss special features of each type of dinosaur.
