The One-Sentence Storyteller

Can you create a collaborative story based on an opening line? In this small-group, creative writing class, we'll write a story together, one sentence at a time from each of you. Let's see if we can write a complete story! 5 students max.

Class Experience

Students will:
*practice story structure
*use other story elements (character, setting, etc.) in order to create a plot
*practice forming ideas into complete sentences (and practice limiting ideas to ONE sentence!)
*use plenty of creativity and "on-the-spot thinking"
*work collaboratively with their peers
As a former middle and high school English teacher, I've taught many lessons on creative writing. I used to do a version of this activity in my classroom, but it was written on paper and then passed from student to student. They loved it so much, we ended up doing it every Friday at the end of class!
If you want to finish the story or change something, go for it!
You don't need to bring anything but your awesome selves.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
