In this course students will learn about the importance of women being involved in the justice system. Justice Ginsburg is considered legendary among women who have secured a seat on the Supreme Court of the United States. The main topic of leaning includes the life, career, and accomplishments of Justice Ginsburg. We will also, briefly examine other Supreme Court Justices who have surpassed the age of retirement but chose to continue to serve on the Court, Women Justices and hurdles they have faced. There will also be an open discussion about current women serving on the Supreme Court; including how many women have ever had the opportunity and the barriers they have overcome. Students are welcome to do their own research to be prepared for this course. All of my courses consist of student and teacher interaction. We will review slides and watch a documentary, divided into sections or clips. Students will be called to read from the text included in the slides. They are welcome to share any knowledge they have or they are welcome to discuss specifics about a Supreme Court Justice. The documentary will be divided into sections over 4-weeks. Week #1: "How did she get here?" Early Life of RBG (Ruth Bader Gingsburg)/Marriage/ Law School Section will talk about challenges women faced during that time period. Week #2: Career in Law/ Taking Care of a Family Section will discuss RBG's role as a lawyer, wife, and mother. Week #3: "Chosen" Clinton's pick for Supreme Court Section will discuss RBG's process & progress as a Supreme Court Justice. Week #4: "Why is she important?" Section will conclude the reasons RBG is a legend in the United States Justice System.

I want students to gain knowledge and experience of how the role of RBG's life and career as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice plays into the history and future of the United States Justice System, and how she has opened doors for women and other minorities who will benefit years after her legacy.
