Class Experience
"The Nutcracker" is a classic holiday story ballet with beautiful music composed by Tchaikovsky. This class, taught by a Sugar Plum Fairy, is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays through ballet, creative movement and drama. Each class will focus on a different part of "The Nutcracker". Learners are welcome to wear ballet attire if available, though it is not necessary. Students will learn: - beginner ballet technique - how to bring literature alive through movement - creativity and imagination - self-expression through storytelling - awareness of movement - body positions and musicality
Travelling Stage teachers are industry professionals with professional performing arts experience on stages across North America. Our artist educators are certified teachers with extensive experience teaching in schools and studios. Nutcracker teachers are classically trained ballet dancers, who also have extensive early childhood education experience. The Travelling Stage is well established in over 5000 schools and child care centres across Canada.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please make sure that you are set up for class in a distraction-free room with enough space for your child to move around. It's a good idea to have water nearby in case of thirst. Children are welcome to wear ballet attire and ballet shoes, but they do not need to.
