Class Experience
Have you ever heard the claim that reading the newspaper every day for four years is equivalent to a college education? That might be true, or it might not! What is important is using the news as a catalyst for understanding the world and educating ourselves about it. Sometimes the news is frightening, sometimes it's weird, but there's always something happening in this world of ours. A news story can be the source of your next big idea: maybe you can solve a problem people are dealing with,...
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This class will use news geared towards a general audience. While we won't avoid stories that discuss violence or other crimes, in entirety, we will try to limit them to news that is really significant. That said, the news can be very upsetting. Please consider your learner's mindset before enrolling.
