Description
Class Experience
I have 15 years of experience as a certified humanities teacher and educator teaching in international settings. I have also received extensive training and professional development in SEL (Social Emotional Training). I am experienced in the 5 components of SEL and craft lessons in a way that allows students to feel more emotionally grounded and less anxious. This course is crafted in a manner not to frighten children but rather to inform them in an age-appropriate manner as well as give them a platform to share and ask questions.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All current event news content will be teacher-selected and age-appropriate. I currently run a current events class for younger learners where I curate news for students that is engaging and sparks discussion. Topics that are avoided in class are politics, religion, race/hate crimes as well as any topics of explicit or adult nature. The goal of this class is to talk about facts and what is happening around the world from an unbiased global perspective.
This class will use a multitude of sources ranging from CNN, NY Post, BBC World News, Alja Zeera etc. The goal is to cover news stories from multiple perspectives.
