Description
Class Experience
students will identify and describe ancient civilizations and their lasting contributions.
I have taught fourth grade general studies for seven years, and Social Studies was my favorite topic. I was always excited to teach history lessons, and I spent a lot of time coming up with different methods of instruction to make the information more meaningful and relevant.
I will assign experiences that would really work well with other family members. It could range from cooking assignments, family discussions, reading, or a short writing assignment.
Materials will involve some cooking utensils, art supplies, and use of a computer. I will send a materials list the week before as well as the homework assignment to complete.
Participation will make up 100% of the assessment. I will be looking for each student to participate to a degree with which he or she or they are comfortable. Whether it is through speech or art or writing, I want students to illustrate what they have learned confidently. It will be vitally important for each student to participate in some fashion as the quality of the class relies on what each student brings and how each student engages with the material.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
There will be discussions of mummies as well as a slide show about Pompeii.
