Description
Class Experience
By the end of this class, students will be able to discuss foreshadowing, characterization, simple plot structure, settings , and prediction. This is a one-time class focused on the Never Girls book series; thus, each class will be a stand-alone lesson. Even though this is a "book club," each class will have a different literary focus in addition to review of the three major elements of plot, setting and characters. This particular class will emphasize foreshadowing and the introduction of the antagonist, Vidia. In addition, the soft skills of communication will be taught and practiced.
I hold a master's degree with an emphasis in reading. I teach special education and am adept at keeping younger students focused and excited during online learning.
Students will be much more successful in this class if they read the books ahead of time, but they are welcome to attend even if they have not read the book.
Students will be expected to purchase or borrow a copy of the first book in the Never Girls book series by Kiki Thorpe, "In a Blink" The last five minutes of the class will be spend creating a willow tree. I will email the handout before class begins, and students should have scissors and glue.
There will be no assessment for this class
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
