Young Kate McCrady, her friends Lainey and Mia, and Mia’s younger sister, Gabby, hear silvery bells, view flying flamingos, and feel an ocean breeze, and then they are magically whisked away—in a blink—to Pixie Hollow, Never Land’s home to fairies, including Tinker Bell. The fairies agree to transport the girls back home, but before that can occur, Kate sneaks away for a rendezvous with Vidia, a fast-flying fairy with a nasty agenda. As the book concludes, the girls (called “Clumsies” by the fairies) are stuck in Never Land, happily awaiting further adventures. . . Short chapters, large font, and plentiful black-and-white illustrations make this book accessible to beginning chapter-book readers. Recommended where demand for fairies is high. Grades 2-4. -Kay Weisman-Booklist In this interactive class we will be reading book 1 and 2 of The Never Girls series by Kiki Thorpe. Each class will follow the same basic pattern. We will read 1 chapter and then have a discussion. Students will be given the opportunity to read aloud but are not required to. Through the discussions I will teach summarizing, questioning, and inferring. After the discussion we will work on a craft related to the book. The crafts are fairy furniture and accessories to create an outdoor or indoor fairy garden. Meeting 1 In a Blink (Book 1) Read chapter 1 Discussion Craft Homework: Read Chapters 2-6 Meeting 2 In a Blink (Book 1) Read chapters 7 Discussion Craft Homework: Finish reading In a Blink and start Book 2: The Space Between chapters 1-2 Meeting 3 The Space Between (Book 2) Read chapter 3 Discussion Craft Homework: Read Chapters 4-9 Meeting 4 The Space Between (Book 2) Read chapter 10 Discussion Craft Supplies needed are: popsicle sticks, popsicle sticks cut in half, string, twine, or yarn, and Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue.

The Never Girls by Kiki Thorpe Amazon In a Blink(Book1) $3.59 The Space Between(Book 2) $5.99 Volume 1: Books 1-3 $15.97 Books 1-4 set $17.68 Supplies needed: popsicle sticks, popsicle sticks cut in half, twine or string, a small piece of fabric or felt for a hammock, Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue Before class an adult will need to cut some of the popsicles in half. Needle nose pliers with a wire cutter work well to cut popsicle sticks. If you don't want to cut them, half length popsicle sticks are sold in stores.

Hello! I’m so excited to teach classes on Outschool. Over the last 20 years I have taught 3rd grade, ESL, and Title reading and math to kindergarten-5th grade in public schools. I love teaching children how to read and getting them hooked on books. Over the years I’ve taught reluctant readers and enthusiastic readers.
