As a homeschooling mom for the past five years, I research African American history and topics to teach to my sons. Being an experienced educator for over fifteen years, I understand how to present sensitive course content in an unbiased way that promotes a deeper understanding and knowledge of African Americans and our history.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This course will discuss discrimination, segregation, and Jim Crow Laws as they pertain to African Americans.
Students will need to have access to the Kahoot! website. An account is not required if students use ( but a free account can be created on the Kahoot! website. Kahoot! will be used to add gamification and interaction to the course while helping increase student understanding.
Information from the Smithsonian Magazine and Wikipedia websites will be shared with students via screen share to support the course material.
