In this, weekly, immersive online class learners unleash their imagination and learn to construct captivating fantasy worlds for roleplaying games and engaging storytelling experiences!

Class experience

My hope is that we will develop and strengthen the following skills for your learner:

1) Develop Proficient Worldbuilding Skills: Gain a solid understanding of the principles and techniques of worldbuilding, including geography, cultures, societies, and ecosystems, to create immersive and believable RPG worlds.

2) Cultivate Imaginative Thinking: Enhance creative thinking abilities by brainstorming and generating unique ideas for worldbuilding, encouraging originality and innovation in RPG storytelling.

3) Build Narrative and Storytelling Skills: Learn how to craft compelling narratives, plotlines, and character arcs within the context of RPG worlds, enabling learners to engage players through immersive storytelling.

4) Enhance Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaborative skills by engaging in group activities and discussions, providing constructive feedback, and working together on shared worldbuilding projects.

5) Develop Critical Analysis: Analyze existing RPG worlds and storytelling techniques to identify effective elements, learning to discern and apply best practices in creating engaging and well-rounded RPG environments.

I am a 40 year old art teacher with a degree in Psychology and over 30 years of experience playing Tabletop RPGs.  Roleplaying games (and, honestly, ADHD) have been the catalyst for my constant and relentless thirst for knowledge....this is starting to sound like an Origin Story...
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This course deals with worldbuilding - often in a fantasy setting which means that some topics might push a more mature level of learning. In order to write stories that feel real - we discuss real things. This class has lead to interesting and respectful explorations into beliefs, psychology, sociology, economics and government in an effort to thinking critically about the worlds we create.
