On September 13, 1848, Phineas Gage suffered a traumatic brain injury while working on preparing a railroad bed in Vermont at the age of twenty-five; he miraculously survived but was so changed from the accident that he was described as almost an entirely different man. Students will learn the true story of Phineas Gage and how he became one of the most famous neuroscience patients, his influence on psychology, and how his case has allowed criminal justice professionals to understand various behaviors. This online presentation course is designed to engage students through a visual and open discussion learning environment.
