🌿🌳🔭🌍 Nature is Phenomenal 🌿🌳🔭🌍 Come join us to take a close look at the things we see in nature everyday and question everything about it. The teacher will show short video clips of a phenomenon observed in nature that the class will watch and discuss. Through an inquiry based approach students will list everything they notice about the phenomenon and everything they wonder about it to unearth possible explanations. For example; one class may view a video of a road near a body of water that shows seaweed, shells and dead sea life laying several hundred feet from the water. Students will first identify everything they notice about the video/picture and list questions that they may be wondering about it as well. Then the group will discuss possible causes for this, guided by the teacher they will come up with a likely reason. Students will receive a phenomenon planning document to print out and complete further research independently after the class if they wish. Week of (January 13): Phenomenon 1 - The Green Carpet in the Woods Week of (January 20): Phenomenon 2 - Trees vs. Reeds Week of (January 27): Phenomenon 3 - Dead Fish in the Street Week of (February 3): Phenomenon 4 - A Tree on the Beach I can't wait to solve nature's mysteries with all of you curious Outschoolers!

🤩Welcome to the Joy Factory! 🤩
I believe that all students learn best when they are enjoying themselves in the process, that’s why I call my “classroom” the joy factory, because I aim to create joyful learning experiences for all students.
I have found, through my 10 + years of teaching, that any of the core academic skills taught in school (reading, writing, math) can be taught with greater success (and joy) through topics of interest to the student. It can be even more joyful when the teacher is passionate about the subject. This is why I am so excited to be offering classes about aviation, science, and nature - all things that I have loved since childhood, as well as the traditional reading and writing classes but with a fun approach.
So, if your child loves any of these things too, take a peek at my classes and come join us for a joyful learning experience. I can't wait to meet you!
