Class Experience

What do the Cat in the Hat and Jack and the Beanstalk have in common? "Into the Woods of Whoville!" Come with us as we take a wacky look at the joined worlds of Seussical the Musical and Into the Woods. Students will sing songs from each show as well as portray the characters as they meet up with each other in unlikely ways. Day 1 will be used to read through the script and listen to the songs. The teacher will determine the casting and send that out after class. Day 2 will be a cast read through with tips on character development, as well singing through the songs. On Day 3, we will begin learning choreography and reviewing music. Day 4 will be spent putting the show together and refining any rough spots. On the last of this camp we will rehearse for most of the class, then invite family members in to watch our "performance." I look forward to seeing you in Whoville!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I teach/direct students age 6-college and have been doing that in various positions for over 20 years. The classes I've taught have covered characterization, staging, improvisation, script-writing, etc.

I am the former Education Director at Germantown Community Theatre, and have also taught/directed high school, junior college, and summer theatre programs.

I absolutely love watching students grow as they participate in theatre. There is really nothing else that challenges them on so many levels including creativity, critical thinking, self-confidence, teamwork, communication skills, time management, focus, as well as learning about literature, author's intent, and the list goes on...

Decades ago, when I finished my student teaching experience I vowed I would never have anything to do with teaching children again... Haha! Never say never :)
