For this four week self-paced class, learners will embark on a different musical instruments zoo by exploring different musical instruments and their families each week. Learners do not need to have prior musical experience to enjoy this class, however if there are learners who do play a certain instrument (i.e. piano, violin, etc.), feel free to share your skills on the classroom page when the respective instrument family is displayed (violin for the Strings family, piano for the Percussion family, etc.).

The links for the weekly lesson videos will be posted on the classroom page, along with learners also be given a print-out of “journal entries” of each instrument and maps for each instrument family to explore with as well.

Here is the weekly outline for this class:

Week one- String Family instruments: Violin, viola, cello, double Bass, and acoustic and electric guitar.

Week two- Woodwind Family instruments: Flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and saxophone.

Week three- Brass Family instruments: Trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba.

Week four- Percussion Family instruments: tuned percussion, untuned percussion, and the piano.

By the end of our time together, each learner will be able to decorate and create a book out of their journal entries and maps of all the musical instruments we went over; they will also share their final creations and what instrument they liked best on the classroom page as well.
