Class Experience

In this fun and fast-paced course, learners will become more confident in their reading, and spelling of different spelling patterns. This course is perfect for students who want a more engaging, personalized, and explicit phonics class. Students will engage with their whole bodies to learn new concepts, as well as review syllables, consonants, blending, and segmenting words.

Following the Orton Gillingham approach, students will begin each session with a phonemic awareness game. Students will then review old concepts with a visual and auditory drill. To practice blending and decoding, students will engage in a blending drill. Students will learn/review 2 new sight words each session to support them in their reading and writing. Students will learn the new concept of the day, using a multi-sensory and whole-body approach. Students will practice spelling these new concepts in words and phrases.

Students will be challenged, supported, and guided at their own individual level to build on their skills and confidence. Each learner will build on their individual learning goals and course materials to show progress each session. Depending on the learner, students may find that repeated practice with this course will allow them to demonstrate mastery.
