The Motion Lab: Where Science Gets Moving
New class
Ages 11-14
Live Group Course
Power in Motion helps learners explore force, motion, and energy through hands-on activities and real-world examples. It’s designed to support all learners—including Neurodivergent students—in building confidence.
Your child is curious. They notice when a ball rolls faster on the tile than on the carpet. They ask why things fall, why bikes speed up going downhill, or how roller coasters work. But too often, science explains it in a way that feels complicated—or worse, dull.
You want them to understand the world, not just memorize facts. You want them to feel smart, confident, and excited about learning—even if they learn differently.
Power in Motion is here to help.
In this four-week mini-course, students explore force, motion, and energy through hands-on experiments, real-life examples, and interactive discussions. Each session builds on the last, helping learners see how everything from gravity to energy transformations connects to their everyday world. Whether your child is Neurodivergent, a deep thinker, or just needs science to make sense, this course is built with them in mind—structured, flexible, and designed to meet them where they are.
By the end, your child won’t just know Newton’s laws or the types of energy—they’ll see the science behind their skateboard, the swing at the park, or even how their own body moves.
Because when kids see how science works in the real world, they start to believe they can work in it too.
Learning Goals
Define - key science terms like force, motion, gravity, friction, and energy.
Apply knowledge of forces and energy to explain how objects move in different situations.

Lesson 1:
Forces Around Us
Forces are pushes and pulls that affect how objects move
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Forces Around Us
Some forces act through contact, while others (like gravity) act at a distance.
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Motion & Unbalanced Forces
Motion changes when forces become unbalanced.
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Motion & Unbalanced Forces
Newton’s laws describe how force, mass, and acceleration are connected.

Learning Needs
This class supports learners with ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD through clear structure, visuals, and hands-on activities, with flexibility to meet individual needs.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Master’s Degree in Education from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from University of California at Davis
I’m a credentialed science educator with over 20 years of experience working with students in both classroom and homeschool settings. I’ve taught middle school and high school science—including physical science, environmental science, and engineering—with a strong focus on inquiry-based learning and real-world application. I’ve also developed and led hands-on science programs specifically designed to support Neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, Dyslexia, and Autism.
In addition to my teaching credentials, I hold a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and have trained educators on how to create inclusive, student-centered learning environments. I now homeschool my own children. I love bringing curiosity, creativity, and confidence into science education.
