What's included
2 live meetings
2 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, learners will experience the timeless magic of Aesop's fables. In the first meeting, we will discuss the origin of the fables and what purpose they serve. I will read fables and we will discuss them. The learners will also have the opportunity to read short fables to the class. Learners will select which fable they would like to perform for the class in the second meeting. We will discuss the specifics of the storytelling project. In the second meeting, depending on the number of projects to be presented, I may share some additional fables. Then, the learners will present their fables to the class. Finally, we will end our meeting with connections to why these fables are important to be passed down through time, hopefully encouraging your learners to consider themselves as storytellers equipped with the ability to share these classic tales with others. No background knowledge required. Reading ability would be a prerequisite if your learner was interested in reading fables to the class, but this is not required. The presentations in the second meeting are oral performances (with the help of any props or other prepared materials the learner brings).
Learning Goals
Students will understand the "moral of the story", the impact of storytelling over time, and create their own fable with a moral
