Do you love dinosarus? Have you ever wondered where dinosaurs like triceratops, stegosaurus, and velociraptor get their names? In this class, we’ll look at some common dinosaur names and learn about their history and what they mean. Students will also have a chance to discuss how each dinosaur’s name relates to their unique appearance, behavior, and overall awesome qualities! I like to keep things as interactive as possible by showing visuals, drawing on the screen, and eliciting answers from learners. If your student is a bit shy and prefers not to be called on, that’s no problem - just let me know in advance! :)

Hi everyone, I’m Mr. Hassan. It’s nice to (virtually) meet you!
I love all things language and culture. 🚀 🌎
I'm a Language Arts teacher with 7+ years of teaching experience. I've taught at two international colleges, a study abroad middle/high school, and online via Zoom, helping students from around the world become critical thinkers and great communicators. Here are some of the courses I’ve designed and led: The Art of Public Speaking, The Psychology of Human Interactions, Intercultural Communication, and Religion and Culture.
Do you know what a "polyglot" is? It's someone who knows several languages. In addition to English, I can speak Arabic, Spanish, Russian, and Urdu-Hindi. I particularly love learning about etymology, the study of the interconnected origins of words! For example, did you know the words "manually" and "manicure" are related since they both come from the Latin root "man" meaning “hand"? Pretty cool, huh?
In terms of my education, I have a BA in International Relations from Boston University, an MA in Religion from the University of Chicago, and a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA).
I believe in putting students like you in the driver’s seat of their own educational journey. I ask a lot of questions in class to get learners to explore and discover new things on their own.
I look forward to seeing you in our classroom soon!
