US Grade 3 - 5

This class will be taught in three parts.

Students will learn what life was like traveling to the new land on The Mayflower in 1620. They will learn who the people were and where their story began. We will discuss what propelled them to leave England. Students will learn what kind of ship the Mayflower was, how many people sailed on it, what the journey across the ocean was like. We will discuss the conditions onboard the Mayflower and how those traveling to the New World dealt with the long journey and each other. Then we will discuss what happened once they reached land. We will look at how they chose the location for Plymouth Colony and what happened as the long first winter set in.

Students will then learn about life in COlonial America. What people wore, where they lived, and what they ate. We will look at commerce and the continued settlement of the New World. Students will get a chance to see and learn how many daily chores were completed. We will talk about education in colonial America and the different ways boys and girls were treated.

This class uses multiple tools for learning such as PowerPoint and videos.

The class is taught in 3 60 minute session.
