The main characters are kidnapped by men who are described as "slave-traders." They are frequently in mild danger as the story progresses. There are several "battles" involving guns and crossbows, and which briefly mention blood. There is nothing very graphic or gory. The main characters hold hands once, and the boy kisses the girl on the cheek toward the end of the story. We will use YouTube, Flipgrid and Nearpod throughout the course. All sites will be accessible directly through the Outschool classroom. For Nearpod, learners will be given a code each week to access the lesson, and they will not need an individual account. Flipgrid will require a student account, and learners will be given a class code on the first day of class to connect to our group board. Please sign up at https://info.flip.com/, so your learner will be ready to begin. It's a very easy process, and I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have! Weekly video tutorials are housed on YouTube and will be linked in the classroom. Learners may also access the internet/YouTube to help with class challenges.
