Description
Class Experience
In this class students will listen to the story about the Magical Music Box. The story will be accompanied by the music of famous classical composers, like Brahms, Offenbach, Prokofiev, and Khachaturian. Children will be invited to move to the music while reenacting parts of the story. This way they will experience music with their bodies in addition to their ears. They will also play musical games. In a second portion of the class, children will make a craft inspired by their experiences....
Students will get familiarized with fragments of famous classical pieces. Among others, they will also practice: • listening to short segments of classical music • noticing some elements of music • using their imagination and creative thinking
Supply List: • An empty Kleenex box OR a small tea box • 6 X 3 piece of aluminum foil • 1 old crayon • Construction paper • Scraps of different kinds of paper (magazine pages, wrapping paper, etc.) • Small decorations that could be glued (buttons, sequins, etc.) • Small stickers • Small Scissors • Markers • Glue stick • Scotch tape
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For the craft portion of the class, parental guidance is required for younger students (ages 4-5) for the use of scissors and other materials. Parental guidance is recommended for older students (ages 6-8). Please note that as per Outschool policy, parents should remain off camera Thank you.
