The Magic School Bus makes science even more fun and exciting! We'll read a book together and then do an experiment based on what we learn in the book. Each class will be a hands-on project that you can do with easy to find household supplies and things that we can reuse and recycle. The first week we will read "The Magic School Bus Gets Baked in a Cake" and explore reactions with our own kitchen chemistry. The second week we will read "The Magic School Bus Plays Ball" and making a cool marble painting as we experiment with friction. The third week we will read "The Magic School Bus Out of This World" and learn about gravity and magnets. ***Please note- Several reviews mention the supply list so I will address it here too. It is provided as soon as you register and I am posting it below. All of the supplies should be household items that you already have or things that are easy to find. If you have trouble finding something or realize that you don't have it at the last minute, we can make almost anything work! I also post it as a reminder weekly. Please ask if you have questions. We will always work to make sure that all children are able to participate with whatever supplies you have on hand! For our first class we will need: - a lemon cut in half (or an orange or lime or grapefruit) -baking soda (a couple teaspoons) -dishwashing liquid (a teaspoon) -a popsicle stick (or spoon) -food coloring (optional, but much cooler with it) -a plate or bowl For the second class our supplies will be: - a tray or box lid (shoebox size is great) - a sheet of printer or construction paper - 2 or 3 colors of paint (acrylic works best) - marbles or bouncy balls (washable because they will get covered in paint) - a couple pieces of scotch tape (or masking tape or whatever you have) For the third class we will need: - a paper plate or thing cardboard (like from a cereal or tissue box) - a craft stick - markers - an index card or piece of thin cardboard or cardstock - two strong (but small) square, bar, or round magnets - glue dots (or tape) - scissors Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope I'll see you in class soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Concordia University
“Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.” Learning should be fun and exciting for all children. I want to ensure that children have all the skills to enjoy learning, to continue their natural curiosity and creativity, and to feel confident to explore their interests and express their ideas. I have a master’s of education in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in reading and a bachelor’s degree in education and psychology. I was lucky enough to homeschool my three wonderful children from kindergarten until they went to college. I’ve taught in private schools, tutorials, and I’ve been a reading interventionist, and preschool director. Most recently I’ve been tutoring and teaching classes online and working as a vision therapist. I’m truly passionate about teaching and learning and I hope I can share that with children all over the world here on Outschool.
