Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy! It's Miss Frizzle's birthday and we'll join the kids of the Magic School Bus as they bake her a cake and learn about basic kitchen chemistry. Through fun, simple, and surprising experiments, we'll learn how different chemicals (ingredients) come together to make something new. We'll also investigate the scientific method and talk about our favorite MSB characters and moments from the book/episode. This class is a lively and fast-paced look into chemistry and Joanna Cole's classic children's science series. Wahoo!

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a professor of children's literature for over 15 years, I've spent years cultivating an expertise in how kids use books to learn about everything from bats and art to empathy and critical thinking. My background in children's librarianship also provides me with a natural ability to pair children's books with simple, fun, and fast-paced activities to reinforce learning. Finally, my own family -- including me! -- loves The Magic School Bus and learning about science!
