This is an interactive class aimed at introducing your child to skip counting by 4s. Skip counting = multiplication. Knowing how to skip count and understanding the connection to multiplication is huge for young children. In class we will use song and repetition to work on skip counting by 4s. We will then do activities and games to reinforce the concept and make the connection to multiplication. It is helpful for students to have a basic understanding of a number sentence (5+4=9). No prior skip counting knowledge or multiplication knowledge is needed. This would also be a great class for students who are just beginning multiplication.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I have a bachelors and masters in Education with 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught in private and public schools, tutored across all subjects, homeschooled my two children (12 and 15), and taught online for the last two years. I have a passion for teaching and students. I lean classical in my teaching style and rely heavily on student interactions. I feel that students learn best when they are comfortable and supported. I work to build confidence in my students which empowers them to master material. I lead a structured, interactive, fun, challenging classroom. I have extensive experience in both math and language arts throughout the elementary grade (K-6). I offer literature classes, phonics classes (pulling from Spell to Write and Read curriculum), math classes (number sense, math facts, mental math. ect.), and poetry recitation/presentation classes. I enjoy animals, being outdoors, a well planned lesson, board games with my family, and an occasional chai tea latte. I would love to teach your child in a supplemental class or come alongside you as you homeschool.
