Description

Class Experience

While this class is for older learners, it is less of a formal "educational" class, and more for learners to join with others that share a love of reading- and reading the Lunar Chronicles in particular!

There will be no written assignments for this class- this is just an opportunity for students to discuss a great book with others and get the idea of how an open forum discussion class/book club is run.

I have run many book clubs in the past and always had a great time. The Lunar Chronicles are an awesome book series, and I hope to share these twisted fairytales with other learners!
Week 1 {Mar 7th}: Chapters 1-4
Week 2 {Mar 14th}: Chapters 5-8
Week 3 {Mar 21st}: Chapters 9-12
Week 4 {Mar 28th}: Chapters 13-16
Week 5 {Apr 4th}: Chapters 17-20
Week 6 {Apr 11th}: Chapters 21-24
Week 7 {Apr 18th}: Chapters 25-28
Week 8 {Apr 25th}: Chapters 29-32
Week 9 {May 2nd}: Chapters 33-36
Week 10 {May 9th}: Chapters 37-38, Scarlet preview, Glitches short story

Please read the assigned chapters before book club each week (about 40 pages, give or take). Make sure to write down any thoughts you have while reading or predictions about what will come next so you are ready to share with the group!
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
This is a fictional book that dives into a fantasy world with cyborgs, a race from the moon, and a mysterious virus.

We will discuss topics such as humanity, discrimination, special abilities, the importance of beauty, making tough decisions, and the importance of truth telling.

While some of these topics can be serious and draw parallels to current events, these discussions are meant to be fun and lighthearted and aimed more inwards to the book - only drawing on personal experience and real life a little.

We will always be courteous and conscious of other group members opinions and feelings - this group is meant for fun and to get to know others that share the interest of this awesome book series!
