Personal letter writing is an exercise in thoughtfulness, storytelling, and grace. The form of communication builds writing, thinking, and communication skills. The art of letter writing is not lost, but still enjoyed by those with the desire to communicate more meaningfully with friends and loved ones in a "blurb" world. In this class we will study: Examples of beautiful personal letters in history The different characteristics of good personal letters The place of personal letter writing in the digital age How to rise above the text blurb and turn a text or email into a beautiful personal letter Although I haven't used pen and paper in years, I still communicate with family and friends by letters I send digitally. In the letters are well-expressed feelings, colorful stories, and slices of life that will be treasured for generations.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I write hundreds of letters a year to family and friends. These letters are usually sent as attachments to emails, although sometimes they are the content of the email form. I've learned that letters provide a unique, meaningful moment between two people in a fast, inattentive world.
