In this 6 week class, students will meet twice weekly to read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. Enter the fantasy world of Narnia as we read orally and engage in discussion to reinforce reading comprehension skills!

"The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Reading Comprehension Book Club" will explore the classic tale by C.S. Lewis about 4 children who go to live with an elderly professor during World War II, offering them some protection from the war. The children soon find themselves transported into the fantasy world of Narnia where the adventure begins. Assessments Offered
Students will be given opportunities for speaking and oral reading. They will be assessed informally through participation, questioning, and by completing a written response and drawing based on the chapters we read. Students are asked to complete their reading/writing assignment if they do not finish before class is over. Students/parents are welcome and encouraged to send the student's work to me through Outschool if they would like it proofread and/or would like some additional feedback on the student's writing.Grades Offered
The following materials may be helpful to students as we practice vocabulary and make connections in the story: -paper -pencil -highlighter -colored pencils -The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (The teacher will share the book through the document camera, so it is not necessary to have a copy. However, some students may prefer to have their own.)
The book will be discussed from a literary point of view, not as an allegory. Religious themes often associated with this book will not be discussed in this class.
