Over the course of three weeks, the teacher will provide relevant background information in relation to the setting of the novel and lead a discussion of the book. The teacher will discuss the author's background and the influence on his writing. Through reading and answering questions in the classroom, we will explore the plot, character development, themes, symbols, and other literary devices. Activities for the class will include: A reading guide each week with comprehension questions and activities Comprehension questions posted in the class for students to answer A weekly comprehension quiz This is a self-paced class where students can work at their own pace. There will be no live meetings.

Please be advised that these books do include violence, death, and descriptions of battles. If you are unsure of how your learner may react to these topics, please read the book in advance and reach out if you have any questions. The book does have some Christian symbolism, but religion will only be discussed in a secular, factual nature as it pertains to the book itself. As according to Outschool's policies, any mention of religion that pops up in the book will be discussed in a secular nature. If you have any questions about this please reach out to me.
