***Please note that the minimum number of learners for this class is 3. If 3 students are not enrolled 24 hours before the class, your student will be transferred to the next available class time! Please reach out if you have any questions!***

Do you love The Lion King? Come check out this read aloud class where we will read, "The Lion King" and create a paper plate craft of a lion!

In this class, we will do a quick picture-walk of the book before reading, go over new vocabulary words during reading, and discuss what we liked and what we didn't like about the book after reading. After our discussion, students will be able to create their very own paper plate lion, following along with me as I create it along side them!

I can't wait to see you in class!

-Miss Kayla :)
Learning Goals

Hello! My name is Kayla Duncan, or Miss Kayla, and I am so excited to meet your learner!

Here are some FUN facts about me!
1. I have a dog who is a Boston terrier and his name is Mako!
2. I love doing arts and crafts.
3. My favorite animal is a Mako shark! I named my puppy after it!
4. My favorite DISNEY movie is FROZEN!!
5. My favorite non-Disney movie is JAWS! (I LOVE sharks!!)
6. My favorite musical is Hamilton!

I love teaching interactive classes that get the students involved while feeling completely comfortable while they are in my classroom. I was such a shy student when I was in school and it warms my heart to see students that remind me of myself. I love working with these students and helping them build their confidence. Reading, math, and American history are my passions but I hope to offer many different types of classes for your learners including fun crafting classes, as this is something I love to do in my free time!

I have been working with students since 2007, when I began babysitting. I even took a course when I was in middle school that made me a Certified Sitter through the Red Cross. As I got older, my passion for helping and teaching children only continued to grow. I completed the education as a career pathway course in high school which allowed me to work in a local elementary school for 2 of my high school years. I gained so much experience while doing this. I was able to work with small groups of students on things such as math and reading, which is where my passion began. After high school, I went to college for three years to become a teacher before changing my major to sociology. I still loved teaching, but I became so interested in how our society affects the way that students learn and the opportunities that they have. Throughout college, I worked as an assistant in an after school program where I was responsible for working with children ages 5-11. As the years went on, I was promoted to the director of the after school program. Along with being the director, I was also an online ESL teacher. Currently, I am teaching 1st grade at a local private school and I absolutley LOVE my job! In my younger years, I always wanted to teach and I still want to teach. I have equipped myself with years of education experience as well as sociology experience and I have a good grasp on why children act the way they do and how those actions can affect their learning. I love the online platform because it allows me to do what I have always wanted to do - teach.

I am so excited and thrilled for the opportunity to meet your learner! See you soon!!
