Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
In this one-time class we will look at the life of Grace Darling, the young daughter of a lighthouse keeper in mid 19th century England. Follow the story of her daring and bravery as she battled to save the lives of the crew of a foundered ship, the SS Forfarshire, on a dark and stormy night. 

This class will recall the events of that night and investigate the recognition that Grace Darling received following the dramatic rescue, examining how the story has been retold and depicted in poetry, artwork, and stories. The session will finish with a comprehension quiz, interpreting the facts as depicted in a newspaper report at the time of the rescue.
Learning Goals
Students will identify Grace Darling as an important role model and place her in a historical context.

I am a patient teacher and encourage all to fully participate in their learning. Every class aims for a 'can do' environment with students positively challenged throughout each session. Mistakes are embraced and rewarded by self-improvement and a growth in confidence. I have experience of teaching children with a range of differing needs, and aim to make all lessons as inclusive as they can be.

I am a Mum to 2 children, (12 and 14). We enjoy digital technology, reading, long walks, and playing music together!
