Curriculum (What I'll be teaching in the classroom): Students will learn about major events in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., or MLK. Students will learn about King’s biography, including the segregation that he and the African-American community faced, his work as a minister and his role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Civil Rights Movement. We will watch a video that also describes King’s commitment to nonviolent means of protesting and features clips from King’s "I Have a Dream" speech given at the March on Washington. Class Structure/Interaction: 1. Hello Greetings 2. Learning Video and discussion 3. Discuss vocab words related to MLK's life 4. Possible reading story about MLK 5. Worksheet Activities My teaching style: -The Facilitator, or activity style: This style trains students to ask questions and helps develop skills to find answers and solutions through reading. Online Rules: -Learners can use tablet or computer. -Learners can eat, drink and use restroom. -Learners can dance to music if it's played. -Learners can leave early if work is completed.
