Class Experience

Alexander Hamilton is famous for many things - like acting as the first Secretary of the Treasury, being the aide-de-camp to George Washington during the Revolutionary War, and being honored on the ten dollar bill. But have you ever wondered about what his life was like outside of the things he's famous for? What was his childhood like? What did he do for fun? How many children did he have? What was his life like with Eliza? We will answer these questions and so much more in this 3 day class!

Week 1 will focus on Alexander Hamilton's life before the Revolutionary War. We will cover his childhood in the Caribbean including his relationship with his mother, what work he did, and how he got to the mainland of America.

Week 2 will focus on Hamilton's military career and big life events that happened during the time of the Revolutionary War. Alexander Hamilton served as George Washington's aide-de-camp but what else did he do? What was his friendship with Washington like? What battles did he fight in? How did he come to meet Eliza Schuyler? What was their relationship like? We will discuss these things and more during week two.

Week 3 will consist of what Alexander did after the Revolutionary War. We will take a look into some of his adventures as a lawyer, why he decided to publish the Reynolds Pamphlet, and what his home life was like. Students will learn about Alexander Hamilton and everything he accomplished after the war.

In this lecture and discussion style course, students will be presented with a presentation that will take an in-depth look at Alexander Hamilton's life from the time he is born until the time he dies in 1804. I am so excited to meet you (or see you again!) and get to learning about all things Alexander Hamilton!

See you in class!

I love teaching interactive classes that get the students involved while feeling completely comfortable while they are in my classroom. I was such a shy student when I was in school and it warms my heart to see students that remind me of myself. I love working with these students and helping them build their confidence. Reading, math, and American history are my passions but I hope to offer many different types of classes for your learners including fun crafting classes, as this is something I love to do in my free time!

I have been working with students since 2007, when I began babysitting. I even took a course when I was in middle school that made me a Certified Sitter through the Red Cross. As I got older, my passion for helping and teaching children only continued to grow. I completed the education as a career pathway course in high school which allowed me to work in a local elementary school for 2 of my high school years. I gained so much experience while doing this. I was able to work with small groups of students on things such as math and reading, which is where my passion began. After high school, I went to college for three years to become a teacher before changing my major to sociology. I still loved teaching, but I became so interested in how our society affects the way that students learn and the opportunities that they have. Throughout college, I worked as an assistant in an after school program where I was responsible for working with children ages 5-11. As the years went on, I was promoted to the director of the after school program. Along with being the director, I was also an online ESL teacher. Currently, I am teaching 1st grade at a local private school and I absolutley LOVE my job! In my younger years, I always wanted to teach and I still want to teach. I have equipped myself with years of education experience as well as sociology experience and I have a good grasp on why children act the way they do and how those actions can affect their learning. I love the online platform because it allows me to do what I have always wanted to do - teach.

I am so excited and thrilled for the opportunity to meet your learner! See you soon!!
