Please join me in this one-time interactive class where we explore fall leaves and other fall things! We will start the class by reading Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. The Leaf Man goes where the wind blows! He's easy to be found when you're walking outside in autumn, just look on the ground! Students will use their 5 senses to explore nature (specifically leaves but also acorns, pinecones, sticks, etc.). Students will learn about the parts of a book. Students will practice pre-reading skills such as reading from left to right and top to bottom. Students will understand words represent a spoken word and convey a message. Students will answer simple questions about the story. Students will describe elements in a story, for example, characters and/or setting (time, place, and/or environment).
construction paper (any color) or self-laminating sheet (clear contact paper also works) a variety of leaves, acorns, seeds, flowers, twigs, etc. (if you have time before class you can press leaves and flowers in wax paper under a stack of books) glue (liquid not a glue stick) markers, colored pencils, or crayons googly eyes (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
