Please join me in this one-time interactive class where we explore fall leaves and other fall things! We will start the class by reading Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. Students will use their 5 senses to explore nature (specifically leaves but also acorns, pinecones, sticks, etc.). Students will learn about the parts of a book. Students will practice pre-reading skills such as reading from left to right and top to bottom. Students will understand words represent a spoken word and convey a message. Students will answer simple questions about the story. Students will describe elements in a story, for example, characters and/or setting (time, place, and/or environment).
construction paper (any color) or self-laminating sheet (clear contact paper also works) a variety of leaves, acorns, seeds, flowers, twigs, etc. (if you have time before class you can press leaves and flowers in wax paper under a stack of books) glue (liquid not a glue stick) markers, colored pencils, or crayons googly eyes (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
