Description

Class Experience

In this 6 week class, students will read through the first book in the series “The Last Kids on Earth.” Each student will need their own copy of the book.


Because this is a FLEX class, there will NOT be live class meetings.

Everyone reads at their own pace. Each learner will have the ability to read at a rate that is comfortable for them. As they finish the assigned chapters for the week, they can participate in various activities that will support comprehension and attention to detail....

This class is taught in English.

Students will read 3 chapters each week.

Class discussion starters will be available in the classroom each week, along with a video at the end of the week to recap what was read in the assigned chapters. 

Short lessons will be available on NearPod. Lessons will include 2-5 short activities for each chapter: single question quizzes, polls, open-ended questions, and more, all for the purpose of increasing comprehension, deeper thinking, and attention to detail in the story.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Nearpod

No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Characters fight monsters and zombies.
The main character talks about his crush on another character.
The main character makes references to his experiences in foster care.

NearPod links will be provided at the beginning of the week. Students will not need to create an account or sign in; they will simply need to provide their name (only I will see it).
