Did you know that DNA contains all of the information about who you are? DNA has all of the instructions to make the proteins that make your cells work properly. However, there is one problem: DNA does not speak the language of proteins! This problem is solved by one hard-working molecules called messenger RNA. It speaks the language of DNA and proteins, thereby cracking the code! In this introductory course, students will learn the processes of DNA Replication, mRNA Translation, and Transcription or protein synthesis. Each class will have a brief introduction, followed with a hands-on activity. Students will have some required readings prior to class to build prior knowledge. Prerequisites: * Basic understanding of eukaryotic cell structures/organelles and functions

My name is Rebecca Veilleux and I love learning and teaching about science and nature. I have been a High School Biology/Environmental Science in Lawrence, MA for over 20 years. I enjoy teaching what I love and helping students make connections to real-world situations.
