The Land of Stories Book Club: Comprehension and Visualization (Ongoing)

This is the same as my other Land of Stories Book Club. I have changed to an ongoing format! 

**PLEASE READ ASSIGNED CHAPTERS PRIOR TO CLASS**

In this ongoing book club, we will explore, The Land of Stories series. We will meet once a week to discuss a few chapters out of one of the books. I have a detailed schedule below. We will not be discussing any chapters outside of those. This means you can join at anytime! In this class we will explore new vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, answer critical thinking questions, and practice visualization. As we discuss each learner is encouraged to draw the main events, setting, and characters for the assigned chapters.  This can go on a "fairy tale" page. Drawing during discussion encourages a key reading comprehension strategy called, visualization. This is encourages students to look for key details and stop and think about the text. While working on these pages, the class we will be discussing the story elements and answering comprehension questions. The questions are meant to guide discussion not just recall information.


Teaching Style
My goal is to create a positive learning environment where everyone is welcomed and feels comfortable. This class is for all abilities and I adapt my teaching to each learner's needs. My role is to be a guide and allow each learner to actively participate and allow discussion. 


Muting Policy
Students do not have to be muted. If there is background noise that is a distraction I will let the learner know and will mute and they can be unmuted when they would like to speak.
