The LAB is an ongoing reading and writing tutoring class. Learners will practice reading, comprehension strategies and writing skills. Reading and Writing are interconnected. In The LAB, we will read a variety of text genres and write responses. We will look at fiction, non-fiction, narratives, biographies, science articles, informative texts, realistic fiction, historical fiction, persuasive texts, poetry, etc. We often read fun and interesting texts. Learners in The LAB will learn reading and writing skills and strategies, at his/her learning level, in a fun, interesting and supportive environment. In The LAB, learning is FUN!
There is no homework required for this class. Learners may want to work on assignments, especially writing assignments outside of the classroom.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There are no grades in this class. Upon request, or on a mutually determined schedule for a regular learner, feedback will be provided to parent. Learners receive on-going feedback during each class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
