Hello and Welcome to The Knitters Club. We will meet once a week on Sunday afternoons to learn new knitting techniques, share what we are knitting, and visit and enjoy the company of our online friends. All knitters must know how to cast on, know at least the knit stitch, and how to bind off a project. Each meeting of Thew Knitters Club a new knit stitch or technique will be taught. Club members will then spend time sharing with other club members what project they're currently working on. Club members will then have time to visit with one another and the club leader and ask questions. We will also look at new knitting and crochet patterns and books, videos and shows, and whatever else strikes our fancy. It is normal for knitters and crocheters to have more than one project in the works at a time. I suggest that each knitter have a pair of size US 8 or US 9 knitting needles and a simple yarn in a lighter color than they like available to practice the new knitting techniques and knitting stitches that will be taught each meeting. My goal is to have club members complete a series of squares that can either be used as coasters, placed in a knitting journal to help guide them later, or that can be sewn together and made int to a blanket. We also will look at working on knitting for charity.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new stitches, new knitting techniques, how to read yarn labels, types of yarn that are best for each project, how to read a knitting pattern, and much, much more.
