"The Kindness Book" - Drawing a Tree of Manners
What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class focuses on the importance of kindness and the use of manners with family and friends. I will read a book featuring kindness ("The Kindness Book" by Todd Parr). Next, I will encourage discussion during and after reading. Students will be encouraged to participate with their ideas, but do not have to. I want them to feel comfortable. After discussion, we will draw a colorful "tree" and write our ideas. This artwork will remind them to be kind to others. I am somewhat laid-back, yet structured in my teaching style. Manners and kindness were incorporated into my teaching for 15 years (K-2).
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of kindness through the use of manners.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
Let me read to your child and help them find the joy of being absorbed in a good book. I am a former classroom teacher of 15 years - K-2nd. I enjoy reading and helping students comprehend a book by directing a discussion of a book.
I became interested in teaching after using my bachelor's degree for a career in business. I was asked to teach Sunday School at my small church, and I was hooked! I couldn't wait to prepare lessons and see the joy in my students' faces. I went back to college shortly thereafter to obtain my elementary teaching certificate.
It is important to have a relaxed, yet well-managed classroom environment. Every student is valued and included. I expect good manners (and will gently introduce them in the classroom).
I look forward to seeing your student in class!
Guess what? I grew up on a Donkey Farm! Do you have animals?
