An excellent preparation for the SAT and other exams that require understanding of advanced vocabulary, this class uses Greek and Latin roots and prefixes to teach vocabulary meaning and usage.

Description
Class Experience
Students will: Expand their understanding of the way English is formed Learn the culture and history behind many expressions Be challenged to use new words and phrases in context Practice skills with words like concise writing and applying meaning logic to make analogies (example: entomology is to insects as astronomy is to stars)
Each week, students will complete one chapter in the workbook The Joy of Vocabulary. This class will cover chapters 8, 11, 16, 21 and 26.
Each student will need a new copy of the workbook The Joy of Vocabulary by Norman Levine. For all students in the class, I will provide a link to purchase the correct edition.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
