In this one-time course, students will learn all about the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). We will also discuss the details of how the JWST will arrive at its final space destination. Students will also learn about some of the goals of JWST and what photos it hopes to take. I will be using photos and short video clips in a slide show to help the learner stay engaged and to retain what they are learning. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
Hi! My name is Cristina and I am an Astronomy and Meteorology teacher. I have been an educator for over a decade, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry with a minor in Psychology and Counseling. I am a certified severe storm spotter for both the National Weather Service and the Spotter Network, and am proud to be a NASA Social alumni. Additionally, I serve as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL, allowing me to share the latest astronomy events with my community.
In my role as a science communicator, I've had the honor of sharing space-related updates for numerous years, affording me the opportunity to distribute information about space across various social media platforms. Additionally, I was selected by Lockheed Martin as a space influencer for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of current space developments but also enabled me to impart this knowledge within my Outschool classes.
Science, particularly Meteorology and Astronomy, have always been a passion of mine and I strive to make learning about it enjoyable for students.
A fun fact about me: I can solve a Rubik's cube in under 90 seconds. In my free time, I enjoy reading and baking cookies. I look forward to teaching your learner in the classroom!
