US Grade 2 - 5
In this one-time class, we will learn about the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The JWST is one of the most exciting flagship missions in the history of space exploration. We will discuss how telescopes work, what makes the JWST different from other space-based telescopes, and what we hope to discover with it. We will explore questions like: How do reflector telescopes work? When will the JWST be launched? What makes JWST different from the Hubble? What is a Lagrange Point? What kinds of objects will JWST observe? How do expect the JWST to change our understand of the Universe? The class is lecture and discussion based. Learners will view and participate in a presentation full of images and some video. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and think critically about telescopes, space exploration, and astronautics.
