US Grade 7 - 10
In this class, we will be learning all about breeding quarter horses involved in various performance horse disciplines, ranging from cutting, roping, barrel horses and more. We will discuss historical horses, foundational horses and horses today that are making a strong impact in their industries and examine their bloodlines to understand why. We will each pick an area of interest and design our own breeding program, adding to it each week. week 1 - we will discuss our interests, the horses we like and why, how to read a pedigree, as well as the components of the breeding program, from start to finish week 2 - planning out our breeding programs - what are the ideals? What are your requirements? What are the details to achieve? week 3 - mares - week 4 - stallions week 5 - now the paperwork begins - narrowing the list and securing contracts week 6 - presenting the complete project and discussion of implementing the plans. This course is for anyone, prior knowledge of horses and bloodlines is helpful, but not required.
