Calling fans of dolls and dollhouses! In this ongoing class, learners will get to share and join a pretend play activity with their dolls, accessories, playsets, and dollhouses. Learners will take turns creating "stories" or adventures for our dolls to go on. Learners can choose to make a connected story or create mini adventures during their turns. I will be actively involved during class to help things run smoothly. I will be using dolls from my own collection to play and interact with learners. To promote creativity, this class will be learner-directed. There will be no set themes for the creative play. There are so many things to do and places to see. The options are endless! -Let's adopt a pet from the pet shop! -Let's go camping! -Let's have a fashion show! Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Wayland Baptist University
Hello!
Welcome to my teaching profile! My name is Brittany Atkins.
I have been an early childhood educator for about 15 years, providing education and care as a nanny, nursery and pre-school teacher, ESL teacher, and babysitter.
I have a bachelor’s degree in human services (similar to social work and human development) with several credit hours in education and child development.
I’m a cat-mom to two Bengal cats and live in the countryside where I see lots of wild animals. My cats and the wild animals around me inspired me to study about animals. As an educator and animal lover, I now share my passion for animals with zoology classes on Outschool.
I’m a neurodivergent teacher, so I understand the importance of being patient, kind, understanding, and respectful towards all learners. Adults in charge of a learner's account are always welcome to message me about any questions or concerns.
My lessons naturally involve socialization because I teach about animals. Usually learners like to share their thoughts and opinions about the animals I teach about in class, talk about their pets, bring show-and-tell items, and mention the different types of animals they've seen.
I am not strict about a learner's involvement due to the needs, preferences, and backgrounds of every learner being different.
Learners are not forced to keep their videos on after check in, can choose only to listen into the class discussions, use the chat function, may use fidget gadgets, and learners do not have to ask for permission to be excused for a moment.
I do not believe that education should be "one way teaches all."
To protect and respect the privacy of learners, I will not share recordings. Please contact me to come up with other solutions if needed.
