Students will examine the interrelated functions of 5 body systems: circulatory, respiratory, nervous, digestive, and muscular systems. We will learn through interactive activities online and through hands-on activities during class time and for homework. We will make observations and inferences about why our body systems work together to make the whole body function. Week 1: Students will learn about the different body systems and an overview of the functions. We will dig deeper into the structure and function of the digestive system. **No supples needed** Week 2: Students learn about the structure and function of the Circulatory system. We will also do a hands-on experiment on this day! Supplies Needed: **Optional: Stethoscope Week 3: Students will learn about the structure and function of the Respiratory system Supplies Needed: ** 1 or 2 balloons and a metric ruler Week 4: Muscular and Nervous systems will be observed by doing an experiment. Supplies Needed: **Digital Thermometer, tape, Exercise Resistance Band or weights

My name is Rebecca Veilleux and I love learning and teaching about science and nature. I have been a High School Biology/Environmental Science in Lawrence, MA for over 20 years. I enjoy teaching what I love and helping students make connections to real-world situations. My classes are high-energy and interactive and encourage students to be at the forefront of their learning. Many of my classes include hands-on activities and labs to engage students and push them to think like scientists.
I have a strong background in curriculum development and tailor my classes to meet the needs of ALL of my students. I will be happy to work with you to meet the needs of your child.
On a personal note, I am a mom to my son Jax, 11, my dog Ortiz, and my cat Phoebe. I enjoy going on nature walks, bird-watching, and spending time with my family.
