In this four week FLEX class, students will brainstorm, design, test, and open their own restaurant at home!

Description
Class Experience
By the end of this class: -Students will be able to describe what a brand is. -Students will be able to design a menu on a Google or Word doc. -Students will be able to use kitchen safety and sanitation when cooking and baking. -Students will be able to describe the steps in making their chosen recipes and scale them up or down according to how many portions that they will need to serve. -Students will be able to cost ingredients, and price their menu items accordingly. -Students will be able to decorate a table. -Students will be able to describe key components of service. -Students will be able to take survey feedback, and determine and execute changes for their grand opening.
Students will have weekly assignments that will be posted on Monday at or before 9:30 am CDT that will be due before the following Monday. All of these assignments are related to planning and preparing their home restaurant.
Students will be designing their restaurants around what they already have. The only materials that they may need to get are the ingredients for their recipes during the last week of class. Families can set a budget and be creative with their menus, utilizing what they have in the pantry already!
Grades are available upon request.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
You can be as hands on or as hands off as however you'd like to be. :) It could be a whole family project or maybe your child wants this to be their independent endeavor. I'll be here to help with any questions that they have.
