Class Experience

Students will learn about the characters and plot of the Hobbit. They will also develop a keen eye for foreshadowing and symbolism in literature.
The only homework will be the reading assignments and the optional writing/ discussion assignments for the students who are hesitant to speak aloud in class.
Learners will need access to the Hobbit either digitally or in print.
Learners will be given a grade for each class in which they participate. They can participate by speaking aloud during class time or writing the optional assignment which will count toward discussion. I will leave it up to individual families to decide the final grade, if they want one.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
The Hobbit has violent and graphic components. Learners and families should definitely decide together if this material is appropriate for them.
