The History of Street Art: From Basquiat to Banksy
Class experience
We will discuss the origins and evolution of the art form up to the present moment, looking at its key players, methods and styles, and examine the dominate debates, themes and ideas. We will take a tour around the world to see some of the beautiful street murals of today and learn a bit about the artists. There will be a brief breaks from the presentation to practice "graffiti lettering" and learned will develop their own style.
Students will receive a basic introduction to art theory, history and criticism. They will also be introduced to simple art techniques.
Paper and something colorful to write with - markers are great!
Illegal vandalism will not be encouraged.
