Class Experience

Activities
1.	Introduction: Students will introduce themselves and share their responses to the following prompts on activities for 2021:
a.	How old did you turn in 2021?
b.	What grade were you in at the beginning of 2021?
c.	Describe one fun thing you did in 2021.
d.	Who are some of the people you met in 2021?
e.	Think of all of the places you visited in 2021. Which place was the furthest from your home?
f.	Describe something you learned how to do in 2021.

2.	KWHL – (K) What do you know...

1.	Students will read about and describe how most ancient people organized their calendars and how Julius Caesar affected modern New Year's celebrations.
2.	Students will read about and describe different New Year’s traditions from around the world and share their personal New Year's celebration traditions.  
3.	Students will read about tips and strategies for setting goals for the new year and write personal goals or resolutions.

Teacher expertise: certificated reading specialist and doctorate in educational leadership and technology.

Articles and handouts will be posted in the classroom with the welcome post from the teacher.

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
